NetzAG Lousberg
English version in progress. These pages are a working translation and will be completed step by step. The German version is complete and is the authoritative one, in particular for the legal notice and the privacy policy.
We are a student initiative in Aachen, Germany, running the data networks of two neighbouring halls of residence on a voluntary basis — from the router through DNS and DHCP down to the socket in the room.
NetzAG Lousberg builds, operates and maintains the networks of the houses at Lousbergstraße 44 and Lousbergstraße 46. Both networks are connected to the RWTH Aachen university network through the IT Center. Everything that runs there runs because students built it and keep looking after it: routing, switching, Wi-Fi, address assignment, monitoring and support for the residents.
Our work does not stop at the front door. We pass on what we learn: in open workshops and talks, in a walk-in clinic for networking, Linux and self-hosting questions, and by publishing our own configurations and documentation under free licences. We meet the other student network groups of the Aachen halls of residence regularly for a technical exchange.
Most voting members are students enrolled at RWTH Aachen University. Membership is open to all students, regardless of which hall of residence or which university they belong to.
